yarrawonga wedding venue FAQ's
One of the best things about having your wedding at Airtree is that you’re not just hiring a space for a few hours – you get exclusive use of the entire resort for your wedding celebration.
Your package includes all 9 resort rooms, accommodating up to 32 guests in beds, plus use of our large campground for additional guests who want to bring caravans, motorhomes, rooftop tents or swags.
You also have full use of the resort and its facilities throughout your stay, including our beautiful maintained lawns and gardens, recreation room with commercial-style kitchen, BBQ and courtyard area, pool, firepit areas and all the different spaces around the property that can become part of your wedding weekend.
All of the existing furniture and equipment around the resort is available for you to incorporate into your wedding set-up, so you’re not starting with an empty paddock and having to hire absolutely everything.
Our courtyard also has its own permanent overhead lighting, which creates a gorgeous atmosphere once the sun goes down and gives you a ready-made space for everyone to gather into the night.
You can choose where on the property you’d like to hold your ceremony and reception and make the weekend feel completely your own.
We don’t have a permanent marquee or dance floor. If you’d like either, they can be hired from one of the suppliers we work with. We do require a dance floor to be hired for dancing on our grassed areas to protect the lawns.
Basically, for your wedding weekend, Airtree is yours – giving you the freedom to create the wedding you want, have your favourite people stay onsite and turn one special day into a whole weekend together.
Yes of course … we know there’s a lot that goes into setting up a wedding and the last thing you want is to be trying to do everything at the last minute.
You’re welcome to come out before your wedding booking begins and start setting up the outdoor areas, provided what you’re doing doesn’t impact guests who may still be staying with us or our cleaning and grounds team getting the resort ready for your arrival.
A lot of couples also choose to book one or a few of our rooms for the night before their exclusive wedding booking begins. This gives you the option of being onsite earlier, getting some of the organising and set-up underway and having somewhere to base yourselves rather than going backwards and forwards.
We’ll work with you in the lead-up to your wedding around what can be set up and when. Our aim is to give you as much opportunity as we reasonably can to get organised early, while still allowing us to look after any guests staying with us before your exclusive booking begins.
Check-in for your exclusive wedding booking is from 2pm.
If you’d like a little more time at Airtree before your exclusive booking begins, you can also book one room, a few rooms or however many you need for the night beforehand at our normal room rates. This is a great way to get yourselves onsite earlier, have somewhere to base yourselves and start getting organised without having to book the entire resort for an additional night.
As mentioned above, you can also start setting up some of the outdoor areas before your official check-in, as long as it doesn’t impact guests who may still be staying with us or our cleaning and grounds team getting everything ready for your wedding.
Check-out of the resort rooms is 10am on your departure day.
If we have new guests arriving that same day, we do need everyone completely out of the rooms by 10am. Nine rooms is a big changeover for our cleaning team and we need every bit of that time to get the resort ready for our next guests.
When you first book your wedding – sometimes 12–18 months or more in advance – it’s impossible for us to know whether we’ll have another booking arriving on your departure day. We’ll let you know closer to your wedding if we do have a same-day changeover so you can plan around it.
Even with a same-day changeover, having the rooms vacated by 10am doesn’t mean everyone needs to leave Airtree. You’re welcome to stay onsite, have some breakfast, pack everything up, say your goodbyes and finish off the weekend while our team gets started on the rooms.
If there’s no booking coming in behind you, we’re generally pretty relaxed about check-out and will give you some extra time where we can – we’re not going to be standing at the gate at 10.01am telling everyone to leave!
We try to give our couples as much flexibility as we can around both check-in and check-out, while still working around the bookings either side of your wedding
Absolutely. If you’re trying to keep the overall cost of your wedding down, having some flexibility with your date can make a really significant difference at Airtree – without having to compromise on the wedding you want.
Our off-peak wedding season runs from June through to the end of August, with rates considerably lower than our peak wedding season.
Winter also gives you more flexibility with the length of your stay. You can choose a one-night wedding booking or make a weekend of it and add a second night. Winter weddings at Airtree can be pretty special too – firepits, the bathhouse, crisp nights and having all your favourite people staying together onsite.
We also offer special midweek wedding rates Monday to Thursday throughout the year. Again, you can choose a one-night booking or add a second night if you’d like more time to enjoy Airtree with everyone.
Our peak-period weekend weddings are a little different and require a minimum two-night booking. We find most couples love having the whole weekend – there’s time to settle in, enjoy the wedding without everything feeling rushed and spend the following morning with everyone before heading home.
So if the finances are feeling a little stretched, don’t automatically think Airtree is out of reach. Sometimes changing the day of the week or the time of year can make a very big difference to the cost, while still giving you exclusive use of Airtree and all the freedom that comes with having the resort to yourselves.
Once you’ve decided Airtree is where you’d like to celebrate your wedding, securing your date is easy.
For peak-period weekend weddings, a $4,000 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. For Winter and midweek weddings, the non-refundable deposit is $2,000.
Once your deposit is paid, your date is set and it’s yours – no one else can book or take those dates from you.
The remaining balance isn’t due until 14 days before your wedding, so if you’re booking well in advance, you have plenty of time to get things organised.
You’re also very welcome to make payments along the way. Some couples prefer to chip away at their wedding balance over the months leading up to the day rather than having one larger payment due at the end – whatever works best for you.
Once that deposit is paid, you can tick “venue” off the wedding list and start planning all the fun stuff!
No there is NO CURFEW– and we think this is one of the BEST things about having your wedding at Airtree!
You’ve hired the entire resort so you can celebrate for as long as you like. Your family and friends are staying here, there are no other resort guests to disturb and, most importantly, there is no set time when we walk in and tell you the wedding is over.
No lights coming on at 11pm.
No DJ being told it’s time for the final song … unless you want them to wrap up at a set time.
No rushing everyone out just when the dance floor is just getting good.
If you and your guests are still having a great night at midnight, keep going. If half the crew have gone to bed and the rest are still sitting around laughing and reliving the day, that’s fine too.
That’s the beauty of having the whole place to yourselves – the night can wind down when you’re ready, not when a venue timetable says it has to.
We do have neighbours within earshot, so later in the evening we ask that the bass is turned down – basically, we don’t want the doof doof travelling beyond the resort. You can still have your music and keep celebrating, we just ask that you’re mindful of the people around us as the night gets later.
After putting so much time into planning one of the biggest days of your life, we don’t think you should have to spend the night watching the clock.
Absolutely. One of the things we love about Airtree is that you can be as hands-on – or as hands-off – as you want to be.
Some couples love the whole DIY side of a wedding. They want to choose every detail, bring everything in themselves and spend the days beforehand setting it all up.
Other couples read that and think… ummm hell no!
If you love the idea of an Airtree wedding and the freedom our venue gives you, but don’t have the time, capacity or desire to organise everything yourselves, we can help bring it all together for you.
We can work with our network of local suppliers to organise as much or as little as you need – from furniture and styling through to catering, set-up before the wedding and pack-down afterwards.
You can still choose the look, feel and type of wedding you want; you just don’t have to be the one running around making it all happen.
This is an additional service and the cost will depend on how much you’d like us to take care of. We can sit down with you, work out what you want your day to look like and then put together the level of help that suits you.
So if you love the idea of an Airtree wedding but the words “DIY wedding” make you run away at 1000 miles an hour – don’t let that put you off. We can do the DO in DIY for you!
We’ve hosted weddings of all shapes and sizes here at Airtree – from big celebrations with over 200 guests right through to beautiful, intimate weddings with fewer than 50.
That’s one of the great things about the resort – you’re not trying to make your wedding fit the venue. There’s plenty of room to go big with your ceremony and reception, but the spaces also work really well for a smaller wedding without it feeling like you’re rattling around in a venue designed for hundreds.
Whether there are 30 of your favourite people or 200+ ready to celebrate with you, we can make the space work around the wedding you want.
The resort has 9 rooms sleeping up to 32 people in beds, with a mix of room configurations to suit couples, families and groups. You can see the full room breakdown on our Whole Resort page.
But accommodation at Airtree doesn’t stop at the rooms.
We also have a huge campground, which means you can turn your wedding into a whole weekend away with your favourite people all staying onsite. We’ve had couples bring in glamping tents for their guests, along with caravans, rooftop tents and plenty of good old-fashioned swags.
Up to 50 people camping is included within our wedding package, and if you want to go bigger than that, have a chat with us about additional guests and pricing.
We’ve hosted as many as 150 people staying onsite for a wedding, so there is plenty of room to make it work.
There’s something pretty special about finishing your wedding and not having everyone disappear in different directions. Your guests can wander back to their room, caravan or tent, then get up the next morning and continue the weekend together.
Because Airtree is primarily an outdoor wedding venue, the weather is probably the one thing we can’t organise for you!
We have beautiful outdoor spaces for both ceremonies and receptions and, its worth noting that in more than 40 weddings at Airtree we haven’t yet had rain impact a wedding day or ceremony. We’d love to claim some responsibility for that record, but unfortunately we can’t control the weather!
As with any outdoor wedding though, we always recommend having a wet-weather plan in the back of your mind.
There are multiple areas around the resort where a marquee can be erected, so if the forecast isn’t looking kind, or you simply want the peace of mind of knowing you’re covered regardless, there are plenty of options. We don’t have our own marquee onsite, so marquee hire would need to be organised separately.
For smaller weddings, our Rec Room could also work as an indoor option, depending on your guest numbers and the style of reception you’re planning.
A marquee certainly isn’t mandatory – plenty of our couples choose to take their chances and enjoy the outdoor setting, and touch wood have never been impacted by wet weather. But if you know you’re going to spend the weeks leading up to your wedding obsessively checking the weather app, we’d suggest hiring a marquee and taking that worry off the list!
One of the things our couples love about Airtree is the freedom to choose the food and drinks that suit them – and their budget!
Airtree is a BYO venue, so you’re not locked into expensive drinks packages or restricted to a particular range. Bring your own alcohol, organise your own bar service or talk to us about some of the options available onsite.
The same goes for food. There’s no compulsory caterer or set wedding menu here. Choose the caterer you love, bring in a food truck, organise pizzas, paella, grazing tables, a spit roast or something completely different. It’s your wedding and we think the food should be your choice too.
We also have a good-sized kitchen in our Rec Room which has been used by many external caterers for weddings and events. Your caterer is welcome to talk to us beforehand about the facilities available and what they may need to bring with them.
External caterers and vendors just need to have the appropriate licences and insurance required for the services they are providing.
We’ve deliberately kept Airtree flexible because weddings can get expensive very quickly. Being able to choose your own caterers, suppliers and drinks means you can decide where you want to spend your money rather than having those decisions made for you.
One of the advantages of having your wedding at Airtree is that you’re not starting with an empty paddock and having to bring in absolutely everything to make it look like a wedding venue!
Our established gardens, beautiful green lawns and landscaped areas already give you a gorgeous backdrop to work with. Add in the furniture, facilities and lighting we already have around the resort and so much of the groundwork is already done for you.
You can keep things relaxed and make use of what’s already here, or bring in additional furniture and styling to completely change the look – but either way, you’re starting with a pretty beautiful space before you’ve added a thing.
All of the furniture and facilities we already have throughout the resort and in our Rec Room are available for you to use as part of your wedding. We have tables, chairs and other pieces that can be incorporated into your ceremony or reception set-up, and couples have come up with some great ways of using what is already here.
If you want to add to that or create a particular look, we also have a range of additional wedding items available to hire through our Wedding Hire Items page.
If you’re going for more of that Instagram-worthy wedding set-up with beautiful furniture, lounges, bars, stools, tables and all the extras, we have recommended hire companies we regularly work with who can provide additional furniture and styling pieces. You’re also completely welcome to source your own suppliers if you already have something particular in mind.
Our courtyard also has its own full lighting set-up, so once the sun goes down the space really comes to life. The overhead lights create that beautiful twinkling outdoor wedding feel – add the tables, music and your people and the atmosphere is pretty much taken care of.
If you’re planning on dancing the night away, the one thing we do require is a dance floor to protect our grassed areas. We can point you in the direction of the hire companies we work with who can organise this for you as well.
What about power for DJs, bands and food trucks?
This is something we work through with you before the wedding rather than leaving you to figure it out on the day.
We’ve hosted more than 40 weddings at Airtree with DJs, live musicians, caterers, food trucks, coffee vans and all sorts of different set-ups, and we’ve always been able to manage the power requirements.
Before your wedding, we work through what your vendors are bringing, where they’ll be set up and what power they require so we can make sure everything is sorted. If they need something additional that they’re not supplying themselves, we can work through that with you beforehand.
The beauty of Airtree is that you can use what we already have, add a few hired pieces, or completely transform the space into whatever you have pictured for your day.
You don’t have to hire everything just to have a wedding here – but if you want the full Instagram look, we can certainly help you find the people who have all the good stuff!
The not-so-glamorous part of a DIY wedding… the clean-up!
As a DIY venue, we hand Airtree over to you to create your wedding your way, and at the end of your stay we just ask that the resort is handed back to us the way you found it.
All furniture needs to be returned to where it came from, dishes washed and put away, decorations and wedding items packed up and all rubbish around the resort picked up and disposed of.
We do make the rubbish side as easy as possible. There are bins onsite along with a large dump bin, a separate cardboard bin and recycling for bottles and cans, so you don’t need to organise skip bins or take a weekend’s worth of rubbish home with you.
It doesn’t need to look like nobody had a wedding here – we know you did! We just ask that everything you’ve brought in is packed up, rubbish is dealt with and our furniture and facilities are put back where they belong.
Our biggest tip? Don’t leave it all to the bride and groom! Rope in a few helpers beforehand so everyone knows what they’re responsible for the next morning.
Absolutely – we know for many couples their dog is part of the family, and if you can’t imagine getting married without them there, we can accommodate that.
Dogs are welcome to be part of your ceremony and wedding day by prior arrangement, and if they’re staying with you for the weekend they can stay with you in the campground ONLY.
There are just a couple of non-negotiables. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times while at the resort and, as you would anywhere else, you are responsible for picking up after them. We have beautiful grassed areas and gardens that everyone uses, so please be a responsible dog owner and make sure nobody else discovers what your dog has left behind!
The one area where we are very firm is our accommodation rooms. Airtree has a no-pet policy in all 9 resort rooms and unfortunately we can’t make exceptions to this, regardless of size, breed or how well behaved they are.
So if your dog simply has to be there when you say “I do”, bring them along! They can be part of the ceremony, the photos and the celebrations – they just need to remain on a lead, have a responsible human looking after them and stay in the campground if they’re spending the weekend.
That way your four-legged family member gets to be part of the big day without us having to become the pooch police!
Our daughter runs a dog grooming salon on site and does offer wedding grooming and handling so you could have a chat with her.

A Venue unlike any other
Airtree resort offers a DIY wedding venue in the Murray River region of Yarrawonga; you design the day exactly as YOU want it, the hours it will run for, the layout, the syling, the drinks, the food; literally everything the way you want it – not the way the venue dictates.
