How the weekend will work…
Arrive any time Friday, set up camp, settle in and meet your fellow camp oven enthusiasts.
Before you put your feet up, you’ll need to register your entries because everyone cooks! That’s the whole point of the weekend. Whether you’re a camp oven legend or someone who’s just hoping not to burn dinner, everyone’s in.
Saturday morning we’ll kick things off with a welcome, introductions and a few fun activities to get everyone laughing, mixing and into the spirit of the weekend.
We’re keeping a few things under wraps because every good weekend needs a surprise or two.
Then it’s time to fire up the coals because Battle of the Camp Ovens begins!
Round One – Campfire Baking
The first challenge is all about the campfire classics.
Bake your best:
• Damper • Scones OR • Dumplings
Our judges will taste every entry before crowning the winners of the baking round. Bragging rights are guaranteed… and prizes for the top 3!
Once the baking is finished, it’s time to prepare for the main event.
Round Two – Battle of the Camp Ovens
Spend the afternoon cooking your favourite camp oven main meal.
At 6.00 pm every dish will be presented to the judges before our winners are announced. Once again prizes for the Top 3
Then comes the part we’re probably looking forward to the most…
Every meal will be placed on one giant communal serving table where everyone gets to wander around, taste each other’s creations, swap recipes, pick up new ideas and enjoy dinner together under the stars … we will provide the mash potatoes and peas!
Saturday night is all about relaxing.
Done & Dusted will entertain us with country favourites and a few classics while we kick back around the campfires, enjoy a drink and celebrate the winners.
It’s BYO drinks…
…and definitely BYO MasterChef attitude.
This will be the very first Battle of the Camp Ovens weekend at Airtree, and we’d love you to be part of it.
We’re deliberately keeping numbers smaller so everyone gets to know each other, share a meal, have a laugh and leave with a few new friends. We don’t want it to become one of those events where you are just a face in a very big crowd.
Who knows… maybe one day it’ll become an annual tradition, and the people who come this year will forever be known as the OG’s.
The only question is…
Will you be able to say, “We were there at the very first Battle of the Camp Ovens…”
